This is a good guide to someone who is looking to crowd fund a project. There are few things I would not have thought of like factoring in shipping charges, rejected/failed payments, taxes etc. There is good advice on how to prepare a video clip for your project. Hope crowd funding will break the monopoly of big consumer goods companies some day, at least in some segments.
